Drone Strike 03:05
I come to see you, baby, but you're not home I get the feeling that I'm not alone I was only droppin' in to say hi Now I'm under your surveillance with the eye in the sky You're like a drone strike, to my heart You're like a drone strike, to my heart You're like a - I can feel you even when we're apart I should have known I was a goner, baby right from the start You're like a Can this be ethical or do you even care? That you can shoot me down when you ain't even there I try to counter with my IED But baby you've got double agents and you're ready for me You're like a drone strike, to my heart You're like a drone strike, to my heart You're like a - I can feel you even when we're apart I should have known I was a goner, baby right from the start You're like a Humanitarian, or you just being coy? Is this a romance or a search-and-destroy? I come for dinner but your cupboard is bare Should I initiate the launching of my surface-to-air? You're like a drone strike, to my heart You're like a drone strike, to my heart You're like a - I can feel you even when we're apart I should have known I was a goner, baby right from the start You're like a drone strike, to my heart You're like a drone strike, to my heart You're like a - I can feel you even when we're apart I should have known I was a goner, baby right from the start You're like a

And let the fire rain down on the capital cities tonight And let the fire rain down on the capital cities tonight We were off our meds, and we were out of our heads And it was all alright We were off our meds, and we were out of our heads And it was all alright And let the fire rain down on the capital cities tonight And let the fire rain down on the capital cities tonight They cut their heads off to spite us We’re the detritus of another time They cut their heads off to spite us We’re the detritus of another time They cut their heads off to spite us We’re the detritus of another time And let the fire rain down on the capital cities tonight And let the fire rain down on the capital cities tonight And let the fire rain down on the capital cities tonight And let the fire rain down on the capital cities tonight And let the fire rain down on the capital cities tonight…

about

“Drone Strike (b/w Detritus)” is the debut single from Bad Swordfish, the brainchild of Brad Skafish, veteran frontman of punk acts like the Figbeats, Hidden Dangers, and Forgotten Four.  “Drone Strike” sets the scene by deploying shock and awe in a sleazy tale that speaks to love gone wrong in the surveillance state. Sonically the rock roots are present, but contorted. Think Joy Division, think The Faint, think This Is Radio Clash. Better yet – don’t think at all.  Empty your mind and get on your feet like these are your last three minutes, because they might be.

B-side “Detritus” is a seductive earworm that says much while saying little. Or perhaps it’s the other way around. Labelmates Jaded Lover throw a couple of EBM cyborgs from your post-apocalyptic nightmares into their “Sifting Through The Ashes Mix” to round out the single.

If there is a message here, it may just be “F*** the message, let’s dance!”, and who are you to say no?
